That isn't very many. Your root filesystem probably has
more. File count is not the problem.

Same thing that happens anywhere, as long as the flash is presented
as a filesystem with POSIX semantics to a platform where rsync can
run. I use rsync for automatic backups of Memory
HI all,
I wonder how rsync works when files-to-be-updated are in flash (e.g. on IPAQ)
Ideally rsync should write to the flash as little as possible (because of max
reflash count)
SO ideally the following should happen
If file needs to be updated, the new file is created.
Then the old file is de

Cc-ing this back to the rsync list. Vikas added some more info in
an off-list mail to me, that straightened things out in my mind,
pointing out that if the dst file is specified on the cmdline as
a simple basename, because you've cd-ed to the target dir and are
doing a pull, then rsync does just as
Hi,
The number of files we are trying to mirror is
approximately: 100 000 and growing.
The version of RSYNC are as follows:
- On HPUX : 2.5.6 (client)
- On Redhat : 2.5.4 (server)
The kernel version of the Redhat server is: 2.4.18-3
The amount of physical memory on the Redhat server is: 512m

Hi,
Is there any and if so can somebody recommend a good book on rsync. I

Thanks Kenny, I tried this out but unfortunatly still with
no success. I have my doubts whether this is a
cross-platform issue. The reason why I say this is because
if I use rsync over ssh:
rsync -e ssh -avz gandalf::home_dirs/ .
Then the mirroring works correctly, when not running rsync
over ss

I recommend using the program "unison" for this -- I find it to be
indispensable.
