There is a (limited) compatibility layer:

Note that 2.1.0 should be released relatively soon, and it has
incompatible changes with 2.0.x. You may want to consider starting with it.

I did not understand that the difference between rpy and rpy2 was so big, I
thought that they were just different versions of the same tool. Now I will use
