I found an Ubuntu bug report that sounds similar to what you're
experiencing:

It would seem to be an issue specific to Unity. The report suggests
trying F11 (the shortcut for toggling fullscreen mode) as a workaround.

The faad plugin in gst-plugins-bad. If you use a package from your
distro the plugin may be in separate variant of that package. For
