I don't think you can play a playlist that's inside RB from the command
line. You could, however, try exporting the automatic one to a file,
and then telling it to play that from the command line, I think.
I wouldn't like that solution, but I think that's the best you can
do what you want, would require adding "playlist" as a
search item in the smart-lists. I do this in iTunes all the time.

To play one song over and over, I generally type it's name into the

I know RB isn't iTunes, but it seems to me that some of the points he

Hi there,
I love rhythmbox.
I love the way it organises music.
I love the interface.
I love the way it handles my iPod with no issues whatsoever.
But
Up until recently I used Rhythmbox for downloading podcasts as it was the
ebst tool I could find and it transferred them to my ipod with no fuss
nd, you can make a new playlist and addf things to
that. So far, people haven't found a good reason to implement exactly
what you're talking about.
I hope that helps,

Are we talking about an iTunes-like music management system that
rearranges tracks based on tags? Or just something to move the whole

I am by no means a GTK expert, but, I think that you might like the
gtk_tree_model_foreach() function, which lets you give it a function to
run with each item in the model (look in
plugins/mtpdevice/rb-mtp-source.c). Also, since the RhythmDBQueryModel
isn't quite a real tree model, you probably need to pass it as
GTK_TREE_MODEL(model) to whatever function you decide to use, since that
function is expecting a GTKTreeModel, and is getting a
RhythmDBQueryModel.
As far as keeping track of changes in RB source, SVN is probably the
best way. Take a look at http://live.gnome.org/Rhythmbox/FAQ for info
about checking out HEAD.
