Fwiw, iTunes handles this by warning you before the copy that there
isn't enouh space on the device and that it will copy as much as it
can. And it's just an estimation since

So here I am trying to write a short bit of instructions (complete with
screenshots, etc.) for my mom to show her how to copy music from her Rhythmbox
managed music archive to her MP3 player.
It's all pretty straightforward until she has a full MP3 player. At this
point, Rhythmbox is very unhelpf

I am running RH el3 ... and packages are not available for that. I
installed the packages from Fedore 1 .. but gstreamer-universe fails
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

but it is not going to be installed

The reason I tried the xine backened was because I couldn't get
gstreamer to work ...
I compiled and installed gstreamer-0.8.10 ... no errors ...
and when I try to configure rhythmbox ... this is what I get ...
