hi,
i tend to upgrade my gcc version 2 onto version 3, but have one
question: as the two compilers are not binary-compatible, is it true
that i need to recompile each and every library in my system (*-devel
packages)?
and will there be an "easy" upgrade path, if redhat switches onto gcc3?

is it possible to upgrade from rh7.x to rh 7.3 via up2date, if i fake my
version to be 7.3? i already use grub, so this wouldnt be a problem.

are there any gcc2 rpms around?
i now have a machine with gcc version 2.96 and would like to upgrade to
gcc version 3.2
problems:
*) i would like to have gcc2 as secondary compiler. should be possible
and would be great if redhat could provide that (rh did this the other
way round on 72 i think)
yep
it used to be adabas, but they got bought by SAP. i use sapdb here and
am quite happy about it. and my windows-colleages love the apps coming
with sapdb (there are a lot of windows-apps for administering the
databases, backups, ...).
