I have a small three system lan at home. One old 386 system only runs
WfWG. The other two can be booted into either linux or win95/98.
If they are all in win mode then all can see each other and access shares.
However, if my old 486 is running linux it cannot access the win98 system
at all. I

I suggest you check out mailscanner. I'm using it to scan
incoming/outgoing messages for viruses. I also installed spamassassin.
It will work with mailscanner or in a .procmailrc file.

For what it's worth, I checked my system after the up2date updates and I
also have 1008 active. However, it's being used by faxgetty part of my
Hylafax setup.
I didn't check before doing the updates and I'm sure it has nothing to do
with them.

I suggest you go to linux-sxs.org and check out the sendmail
authentication step by step.
Sendmail authentication is very easy to setup but clear documentation is
sometimes hard to locate. From you log files I don't believe you're using
authentication at all. Did you setup users using SASL?

I believe that you have sendmail authentication working correctly. Your
problem lies with the server name lookup. sendmail must be able to
resolve your server's name and it will then to a reverse lookup on the
resulting ip.

vsftpd is supposed to be able to use tcp_wrappers (hosts.allow and

I sometimes manually mount NFS volumes on my internal lan. This works
fine until the system containing the NFS volumes is rebooted or turned
