How do you guys store the sources and specs to make RPMs? I'm trying
to do something similar locally for emacs packages, and I'd like to
keep pristine sources, but I'm not sure the best way to keep
everything under version control (since I really don't want to keep
gzipped tarballs in CVS).

...on the Red Hat ftp servers is a file that should actually be:
/pub/redhat/updates/6.1/sparcv

Yes. And even if it is installed, it is easy to uninstall it using 'rpm
linuxconf'.
