It's been there since 2.0.31 or so, and is the ide-scsi.o driver
used for IDE CD writer drives under Linux.

it may not be directly compatible with Adaptec IDE Raid
cards. It's the source code (I think) and compiled
binary provided by www.promise.com for their
UltraATA/66 IDE RAID cards to run on Red Hat 6.0

Emulates SCSI devices; one can use SCSI software on IDE hardware. Useful for
cdrecord to record on IDE CD writers.
