Some time ago I mentioned in these circles, and some discussion ensued, that
I'd had some difficulty building a kernel src.rpm.
As I recall, the most intractable problem was that it made a device (mknod)
during the build process.
Bill said, "But it has the be root to do that," and I suggested
g this interim period.

Thanks to all for the responses. I managed to grab the sources and
patches from the Apache SRPM and move them to the directories where I
wanted them. I appreciate all of the help. Getting used to Linux
directory structures is going to take a little time. *grin*
