Can you run:
rpm -qa | grep glibc
And send back the output. Also the output from:
sh /usr/src/linux/scripts/ver_linux
and
cat /etc/ld.so.conf
That may help debug the problem...

ut I have don't have the same hardware/redhat version as
you, and have linux problems of my own ;) I'm fairly certain that the
above commands cannot hurt, and have a good chance of sheding important
light on the situation.

Also, one last problem I forgot to report:
Pine doesn't have the old backspace functionality it used to (remove chars
to the left of cursor). The backspace behaves the same as delete. I'm
sticking to the rh6.2 ncurses4 version of pine for now.

I understand that glibc has a bit farther to go. As does gcc-2.96.
