Maybe it's the lugs I am using, but even when I VERY carefully strip 4/0
fine stranded cable, it is very difficult to get all strands into the lugs.
I don't think a mechanical stripper would be workable, but maybe I'm doing
something wrong.
I gave up on Magna Lugs in favor of the flared lugs from
Jason,
Here's a simple trick for getting fine-stranded cable into a lug: Make
two very careful radial cuts around the end of the insulation, one at
the intended end of the insulation and a second about halfway or less
toward the cable end. Remove the ring of insulation closest to the end.

That's exactly what I do with my Klein hawkbill knife. My guys prefer a
razor knife. I still find it hard to get the Magna Lugs on there. It is
much easier with the flared lugs.

Wrenches,
We are embarking on a project in November that has enough battery cable and
terminal crimps to justify researching and buying power tools specific to
the task. If other Wrenches have product recommendations I'll take them.

Hi Sam,
I purchased the Milwaukee Force Logic crimper a few years ago and it’s been
worth every penny. The cutting attachment doesn’t work so well on fine
stranded, but the crimper attachment has worked flawlessly. I use it almost
every day.

Which crimper / die package do you have? Milwaukee has a confusingly large
selection of them.

Polarwire's Arctic Ultraflex and the lugs they sell are made for each
