Hi All,
I have noted that the phantom arc faults occur with high power modules such
as Sunpower. I have also heard of many issues with Tigo optimizers.
One potential easy fix is to disable the Optitrac Global Peak. This seems
to work to get rid of the arc faults in both the -22 and the -40 inverter
Got called in by another peer to debug that infamous SMA error 8206 on a 2
year old 5kw unit. The array is roof mounted on composite shingles with 14
SunPower 345w modules. First time ever seeing this error on this project.
I'd love to hear from others as to what they've found or better yet hear

Chris,
Sunpower has taken some responsibility on some of our older Sunpower
systems that are arc faulting. We tell them that a system is arc faulting,
and then they insist on sending up a 3rd party contractor to inspect the
system and potentially install what they call "Tigo Diodes". I am still not
Same up here in the southern sierra. I get calls from ABB and a few from
SMA to look at systems that people far away installed and as a local 3rd
party it can save some money. Whatever they quote me I triple the price.
1/3 up front and the rest when it is done. ABB is really slow with payment.

Friends:
We have a 3 stack Radian system installed about two years ago. The customer had
some health issues and is just moving into the new home.
Over the weekend the system started strobing the AC output. One or more of the
inverters was clicking and buzzing.
Tech support diagnosed a faulty
Here is a good article on connectors and maybe relevant to the arc fault

Friends:
The message below never got posted to the Wrenches list. I don't know how
the list works but sometimes there is a quite a delay.
I am still in need of advice. The problem went away mysteriously and then
came back. I can make the problem go away by unplugging the data cable to
inverter

Sounds like the inverters are in search not on, have you changed the
inverters to on instead of search. Have you considered a hard reset to
factory. Also as a POE (process of elimination) I would turn off one of the
slaves at a time, even switch over to a different master. I had a 16 kg in
Hi William
I suspect a problem inverter, not a comm issue.
If removing #3 stops the problem, then
I’d move the #3 inverter into #2 slot and see if the problem still exists.
If yes then It might just be one of the power modules inside #3. Or could be
the control stack.
