Why would you NOT use the Surrette batteries. Far easier to move, up to 2400
Has@20 hr rate. Steel CONDUCTIVE/ RUSTING cases never made sense to me. The
only reason I would use something steel would be the AGM when seismic security
was required.

Yes good points.
However I have good reason to believe that the dual plastic case batteries (
rolls or Trojan) act like good insulation.
I'm working on some designs for the deep tropics and heat build up is a huge

Whether I use fans, water, or AC Units, I think that individua
Thanks for the input, folks. My client is very concerned about warranty
disappearing if the company goes under and was attracted by their third
party warranty. Solarworld is my usual go to module, but my client was not
impressed with their stock history. Canadian Solar are Chinese? WTF?

I put the batteries into a 30 " deep ground vault when possible. Earth

Solar world is backed by a very large German company and is investigating
expanding the manufacturing foot print they have, have you been to the
factory, If not you need to go, in some cases you can take your customer
too. They sell low output cells that they will not use to other
manufactures. You
Jay,
A couple of things.
There is a source for the Surrette/Rolls as 2 volt cells in a single
poly enclosure as opposed to the double, four volt cells. Contact me
off list.
We have been using these cells for more than 13 years in the Caribbean
with great results. We do use ventilated batter
Just curious if fellow wrenches are looking at Li-on batteries. We were just
quoted a 50KWHR at 48 volt battery pack with enclosure and BMS for $ 360.00
per KWHR or $0.36 per watt hour.

I too am a big fan of Surrette and what I’d be worried about is the sweating
and/or moisture that would build up on the steel @ high humidity’s or high dew
points.

I have Surrettes, Industrial Hawkers FLA with steel cases, NiFe, Li-on and
the traditional plastic case types. The Surrettes are a very easy to
maintain battery little water use and stays clean. The steel case seams to
need cleaning allot more, goes through more water but also have the a great
life
I have been to the factory, Jerry and was very impressed. That's why i use
them whenever possible.

I believe CanadianSolar offers made in canada mods as well as their overseas
ones.
He province of Ontario has a FIT program (feed-in tariff) that has a certain
percentage of domestic content requirement, meaning if mfgrs want their
products used in Ontario then they must produce that produce
Canadian Solar actually does manufacture modules in Canada.

Yes, SolarWorld….I don’t know of any other PV manufacturer that has lost more
money in a several year
A not so large German company that’s been bleeding money for the past three
years and whose stock value is in the toilet. Caveat emptor.

$360/kWh is a good price. Can you share the brand with us or email me off list?
We sell Li-ion (LFMP) at our store but I include a CPU, protection solenoids,
battery capacity meter and video display. My dealer cost is quite a bit higher
than you were quoted.
