Thank you all for your replies. I'm encouraged
to hear that there really isn't a problem with turbines killing birds.
I'd never heard of a bat killing issue
before. Has anyone heard any information, pro or con, about that issue?
Thanks
Drake

Hi All Wind Wrenches,
We have 5 turbines recently installed in the Golden Gate National park
land in San Francisco. They are small 1 kW vertical axis units - I was not
happy about installing vertical axis but that was what the client wanted.
The good news is that each turbine is being monitored fo

agree with your opinion and wouldn't recommend vertical axis turbines for
any project that I can think of. Having a public monitoring site will help
reduce the back and forth debate - I suppose if people still
Hi gang. I think we've flogged this very marginally on-topic thread to death.
Let's either move it to our wind installers list or the bitching list. Thanks.

I wanted to address the current discussion regarding bat mortalities. Yes,
I work for a wind turbine company so I certainly have a bias. But I'm not
opposed to honest and accurate discussions and perspective. In that light,
I wish to add some input and perspective about bats. I'm not a
