I have a decidedly skeptical opinion of the Fronius MPP algorithm. A few
years ago, I was one of the first (I believe) to notice a curious
"continuous saw tooth ramping" of the DC current and voltage on a couple of
Fronius IG4000's. The problem (I was told by Fronius) was triggered by an

Efficiency Curves of Fronius Inverters? Some of the early (circa 2000'ish) grid
tie inverters (not just Fronius) had problems tracking MPPT at the lower 10-15%
or so of the input voltage range. Not sure if that is related to the
experience you had with that IG4000 or not.

I installed an SCP 200 cable feet from the inverters.

Hi Jay,
The "official" length limit is 130ft (40m), but we have lots of systems running
at 200ft+ without problem. As long as the inverters and charge controllers are
close together a long run to an SCP or AGS should be fine.

My dream! I hope someone knows of such a unit, cuz I'd love to know what to
recommend to folks.

Thanks to all who have helped with this. The moving target ofgenerator
function makes things a bit more complicated than we wouldwish,
The problem here it about 5 years ago they upped the snow loadrequirements from
40 to 60 p/sf so ANY thing added to the roof needs astructural upgrade.

Peter,
All of the events I saw were similar to each other and different from your
experience. What I saw was the inverter operating 40Volts above Max Power
Point (MPP) (it was at 330V when it should have been at 290V). This caused
the inverter to operate at 90% of what a properly operating inve
