Hi Dana,
I have run the Fisher-Paykal washer on a DR, SW, SW+, PS, Outback,
Prosine 1000 and Magnum MMS1012 with no problems. I stuffed a huge
load in, and tried running it on a Morningstar SureSine 300 watt
(surge to 600 for 10 minutes), which has a quick blow 40 amp fused

Thanks All on the fisher Paykal thread.
I run an F-P on Outback VFX3624(s) and I have 2 clients now that run the F-P
on Sw4024s. Super smooth on these inverters.
My .02 on the Fisher Paykal - $625 [1/2 of a Staber] , great controls &
capacity, 1K RPM spin cycle, and this washer deals with o
Anyone have watt-hour data available for the F-P vs. Staber? I'm replacing a
washer for an off-grid home.
Thanks.

I have run 4 loads on the F-P and have gotten widely varying recordings.
141watt hours up to 585 watt hours for a big load of towels. The Staber has
run from 146 watt hours to 230 watt hours. I have not run enough loads to
get a long term average yet. The Staber definitely has lower power

Hello Wrenches
A client is interested in a Kohler 8.5 RES. Looking at the archives,
it seems likely that these can be rewired for full output at 120 V,
and it should be possible to separate the neutral from the frame
ground. Does this seem correct for this particular unit?

We add a 30 watt PV mod. And a small CC to keep it topped off. We do this to
all the new Onan's Too.

Garage overflowing?
I did only one about 5 years ago and put just a 1.5W PV on it w/o CC and never
had any issue. btw - it had a 10 min./wk exersize cycle too, that of course
also charged the batt.

Drake,
I have just been told by the Kohler rep that the RES is now 120/240 only and
cannot be rewired to 120VAC.
I just ordered one for off-grid and went over all of this. Theres no block
heater, but theres an AC carb heater. I will wire this through a 1-hour
mechanical time switch.

I have a Sears "ECO Care System" energy star washer. Have had it for 5
years. Very happy with it. Cost about $650 has done lots of laundry for the
family. 120 watt hours for a big load of Carharts, tee shirts, towels et
all. Peaks out at a 400VA draw. Nice machine.
