I'm planning on flashing the bottom of the foot with urethane sealant, then screwing down to the roof. After that, counter-flash with a ITW metal roof flashing boot glued down only with a sealant (doesn't make sense to add more holes to flash). I'm considering adding a weep hole at the bott

Troy: How are you planning on attaching the rubber boot to the roof sheeting? If you attach with sheet metal screws, won't your screws penetrate into the sheeting and trap the metal in place? If you glue it, you are dependant on the glue. I see the overall concept, but don't see how to atta

Hi Troy, I don't know what to tell you, pretty scary to me to cut a big hole in the metal roof. I'm curious about any links you have to those mounting systems? thanks, jay peltz power On Feb 7, 2009, at 11:24 AM, Troy Harvey wrote: You don't screw the roofing pans down through the pan, t

You don't screw the roofing pans down through the pan, they are all held down with some kind of clip system; there are no roof penetrations, as the hold down screws are under the roofing. I'm not talking about seam clamps at all. But using a boot flashed stand-off foot. We looked at S-5

I'm not talking about seam clamps (i.e. S5!), but rather the problem of screwing or bolting through the roof causing problems with thermal expansion. Arguably, clamping to the seams would cause less thermal expansion problems, since screwing through a panel in the middle of the roof could c

Troy, It is my current understanding that some manufacturers of metal roofing will not warranty their products if clamps are used on the standing seams. The reason given is that clamping the seams prevents the normal movement of the roofing during expansion and contraction. I can't say which

I was wondering what issues people have had screwing/bolting mounting feet to a metal roof with thermal expansion. I was looking at a european roof mounting foot and noticed they cut a hole in the metal roof, and screw the foot to the sheathing using a rubber gasket to make a water tight se
