The easy thing to do next time is to configure the gen start setting for
15 seconds. You have the 15 minute and 2 hours but from what this sounds
like, you need to set the 15 second to around 24V.

You really need a router anyway to config the Combox. I carry one in the
truck but a good idea to leave it on site.

If you enable SD card logging on the Combox, it should be helpful even
without internet access. You would just read the data on site with a
laptop with an SD card reader. Its definitely laborious though especially
with 5 second data. I'd test a 15 minute data set to be sure that you are
logging
This sw came on a prewired Epanel. The only monitering is through the scp
or the classic charge controller via whizbang Jr shunt. I am thinking
about adding the combox but not sure how helpful it will be since there is
no internet or cell service at this site.

Hi Aaron,
You may want to install a Combox and enable SD card logging. You can log 5
sec intervals I believe. Be sure to power it off of the Xanbus otherwise
it will turn off with the AC. If you decide this needs to be done, be
ready to sift through a lot of data.
