Can the GSMM be used with non Generac generators?

Drop Mode is handy for Grid Tied Systems to cycle the batteries. Just engage drop mode, the system sees the grid but does not lock on and the system runs off renewables till the batteries need charging. As long as the system "sees" the grid, it will lock on before it crashes. TTFN dbDan BrownFoxfir

Hi Daniel,
Ive done this with 4- 5048 sunny islands. 2 per phase
generac smart switch service entrance rated transfer switch.
no critical load panel, output of islands feeds main panel, (100a)
On grid loss, Transfer switch opens, Islands take over from batteries/solar.

William,
I know there was a point that they changed processors, when they did that it
made the power assembly, control assembly, and the ac assembly incompatible.
I agree with you that it would have been nice that they could have maintained
this, but this change was quite some time ago, at le

My best solution is connect the pv unstream of the tranfer switch, if that
is not an option install a contactor in the pv AC side output and connect
that upstream of the genny, you can also connect the supply power to the
genny side. Either way you look at dont let the PV and genny play to

Esteemed colleagues-
We are finding more and more clients with existing utility back up
generators that are wanting grid inter tied solar systems. Many of these
clients are not willing to go the extra mile to interface the solar system
with the back up gen. I am wondering if any of you out there
Hi all
I have a customer who has an old outback PS1-be. ( long extinct)
Battery enclosure that holds 4 group 27 12v batteries.
Anybody know of anything similar? He wants to add but I can't find anything in
a similar shape. I.e. Tall and narrow.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
