Hi Glenn,
Most Warranty spell out their exemptions that include any damage for objects. I
just glanced at the Sanyo warranty and found they even mention Golf Balls and
hail stones!

Fellow wrenches,
We have been involved with several remote village installs where the
kids like to throw rocks at PV panels. I've had reports that the PV
installs with Solarworld Sunmodule Protect series PV panels installed in
nearby villages have taken direct hits from rocks with zero appare
All of which begs the question, has anyone successfully gotten a warranty claim
for the damage if it would seem that the damage was inflicted to a lesser
degree than product testing seems to indicate?
Sincerely,
Glenn Burt

Wrenches
We have modules next to a driving range at a golf course and we find golf
balls around the arrays regularly and do find broken modules from time to
time

Allan, great of you to share this, thank you. I am asked about potential hail
damage on at least 85% of the site assessments I do, so reciting the "industry
standard hailstone test" is pretty common.
To date, I am only aware of one system that suffered damaged modules from hail
here in Alberta.
I’ve seen photos from one of the leasing companies of arrays right next to a
golf course that got multiple ball strikes. They were having to constantly
replace modules which lead to a rule of no arrays within some number of feet
from a course. I think it was 300’.

Not to hijack the thread, but the timing is perfect for another related
question I had. A client approached me about putting solar panels on a golf
course maintenance building. The pitch is 2 in 12 and the location is
supposedly not in the typical direction/are where golf balls are likely to
be hit
