Can anyone point me to code references for 12Vdc nominal PV circuits
powering equipment like PV direct DC pumps and charging small batteries for
DC motors like those used in window shutters? Specifically I'm looking for
permitted wiring methods inside structures. A local AHJ asked me for advice

I get these requests all the time, and electricity here is very expensive.
I can't make a business case for going off-grid. We did one simulation for
a totally off-grid 4MW system where there was no grid, using diesel
generators, 400KW of PV and SMA's Fuel Save, and the PV was only able to

Bad idea. There is absolutely no financial advantage to going off-grid, at
least if the grid is already installed. Batteries are a lot more expensive
per kWh than grid power.
And pretty soon they will be at war with each other over "who left the
d**n loads on and drained the battery".

Hi Bill,
For a Solaron, I've used a plastic stair tread, some velcro and some super
glue to cover the display. Only a few bucks from Home Depot. It's worked
out pretty well provided it's not very windy.

seems even a little sunlight on the display window over time will cloud it up,
making some even unreadable. I've tried polishing with very little luck and
