I notice when reading the flexmax 80 manual on-line that they recommend the
array V be 12v to 24v higher then nominal battery V. The system in question is
only 7v above nominal.
So what problems am I going to hear about the next time this dude calls me?

I suppose it would be an interesting exercise to do the math but my experience
with very cold groundwater input to a gas on-demand heater (Aquastar) showed
very efficient fuel usage even with the cold water input. It seems that

Good info, I thought maybe the warm days the system might drag the voltage to
low, that's why I asked.
So, on to MPPT controllers. Again limited use, so looking for some good info.
Kinda limited battery experience to be honest. Just very small cabin/shacks.

Hi Wrenches,
Now that the cost of modules has come down so much, has anyone out there
experimented with solar electric water heating? As in: direct connecting a
short series string of PV modules to a tank -style electric water heater with
an element of an appropriate voltage and wattage rating…?
Jesse.why wouldn't you wire at least 2 modules in seriesthis way
you have less breakers to deal with, less cord grips if paralleling in a
combiner box, less homerun cables to the combiner and you will also benefit
from greater energy harvest in your MPPT conversion particularly during
cold
Jesse,
Check with manufacturer to be sure. I've had AGM's in 24v system's set at
29.2 Bulk/Absorb and other manufacturers (Full River for one) that say 29.6
is fine. So, with an FM80 I would recommend 4 strings of 2 modules to ensure
that you can always get that VMP up where it needs to be.

Hello,
I'm interested in charging voltages for AGM batteries. After my visit to the
site mentioned in the battery box thread, I was thinking about the system.

For FLA batteries, we only use plywood for the boxes. I'm worry about

For AGM, we use metal, usually AL. Stainless is more expensive.

After seeing this battery box and seeing the issues that can arise if a large
battery bank is deployed I contacted a local metal fab shop and asked for a
estimate on building one if I needed it. A 45"x40"x 20" battery box with
stamped louvers was about $1000. This was made out of stainless bec
Hello,
What types of problems/issues are people seeing when installing grid-tied or
grid-tied with battery backup systems when doing so on homes with off-peak
services? Most homes in my area have off-peak heat and water heaters and
depending on the system it can involve rewiring if the home h

Hey all.
I had a wild trouble shoot this weekend as follows:
A So Cal Client calls & 1 of his 4 - MX60 CC"s out of operation, works 10
minutes and then shows gibberish on the screen and shuts down. To get it
awake again he needed to totally power it down for 15 min and restart.

Hi Carl,
Yes. I ordered the WILO circ pump (and have received) from PAW last week. I
also have one coming from Schuco USA covered under warranty. Schuco is still
answering the phone in CT. See Sandor's contact below. He was very helpful,
unfortunately he had to source the pumps out of Germany a
Dave,
Were you successful in tracking down one of these pumps? We have a number
of Schuco units in the field all running fine at present, but it would be
good to have a part source when the time comes. Any joy locating a US
distributor for the Tyfocor-LS?
Cheers
