We have had some issues with this also
.maybe try this ref from the 2011 code 690.16 (b) where the disconnect
is located more than 1.8 m (6ft) from the overcurrent device, a directory
showing the location of each disconnect shall be installed at the
overcurrent device location

I just stacked 5 Xantrex XW-MPPT-600-80 controllers with 10 strings of 10 in
series 225W modules (2 strings per controller). The XW PDP accumulated all this
wiring to battery back.

High-voltage DC input (up to 300Vdc) preferred. Units will connect to a
20-24 kW PV array and 150 kW-h battery for a large off-grid system.
Not locked into 48Vdc. Can go up to 108Vdc (nominal) if needed.
