"PDF Creator" is a freeware program that adds a PDF pseudo-printer driver to
your selection of printers. Install it, and it appears in your printer
selection table. Output is directly to PDF. I've found it to be one of the

I'm planning on flashing the bottom of the foot with urethane sealant,
then screwing down to the roof. After that, counter-flash with a ITW
metal roof flashing boot glued down only with a sealant (doesn't make
sense to add more holes to flash). I'm considering adding a weep hole

Thanks, but when I do so, my print values are too large. This is a work

I respectfully disagree. Without proper CAD drawings, we can't even begin
to build systems. Software has been discussed many times before.

Please, you guys. Software support is totally inappropriate for this list.
Depending upon what software you have installed, you may or may not
have the Adobe Distiller as a print driver, in addition to the PDF
writer. I own a full copy of Adobe Acrobat 5.0, and it installs the
both the PDF writer and the Distiller as print drivers. I really

I use Docudesk DESKpdf to print cad and other files to PDF. It works
faster than Adobe.

If you are printing an image rather than text to pdf, do a control>print
screen, open a new blank window in acad and paste it in. You can then get
whatever appears on the dwg file more or less 1:1. It does not always give the
sharpest images this way and colors can shift but it does do some thin

PS: Adobe Pro has a hairline fix tool -- does the job but adds a

How are you planning on attaching the rubber boot to the roof sheeting? If
you attach with sheet metal screws, won't your screws penetrate into the
sheeting and trap the metal in place? If you glue it, you are dependant on
the glue. I see the overall concept, but don't see how to atta
Hi Troy,
I don't know what to tell you, pretty scary to me to cut a big hole in
the metal roof.
I'm curious about any links you have to those mounting systems?
thanks,

You don't screw the roofing pans down through the pan, they are all
held down with some kind of clip system; there are no roof
penetrations, as the hold down screws are under the roofing.
I'm not talking about seam clamps at all. But using a boot flashed

I'm in orange county now but still do plan check and installs in the coachella

summer) is the amount of heat under a solar panel.

I used the Unirac system just once on a challenging job with hips/valleys
and eyebrow vents and didn't like it particularly. Lots of specialty parts
like cap strips, end caps, black anodized screws, cutting rails on the
angle. I guess if I were a half-decent carpenter, I would have known all the

Hi Holt -
Solar ready works great when carefully planned. ~25% of our clients in the Bay

full solar system. We have a very high success rate with selling and installing
the full PV system during the sale if we market
I have a couple of questions for those who have already done an Enphase
installation. We are anticipating putting a system in a major remodel. So
the client has asked us to penetrate the roof with our PV wiring (we do this
a lot) and run the wiring through attic space and then to the exterior wall
HI Jay
Yes, I have done one using the unirack system, top down mounts, the layout
rack-mounting time was excessive, but the final product was acceptable.

Wrenches,
I am working with a client that is doing major remodeling on a recently
purchased house. His budget is not allowing PV at this time, but he is very
serious about adding it when he sells other property. I am suggesting that we
make the house "solar ready" for such a time. I'm thinking t
HI All,
I've got a project that will use the sharp triangle modules with the
corresponding 142 watt square ones.
Has anyone done the racking with Unirac or DPW vs the specific sharp
racking.
Pros and Cons?
I don't need true flush mount, and it won't be inspected.

That is what I do. I believe it to be a very equitable arrangement. Primarily
it quickly and effectively eliminates the folks who are purely tire kickers.
Before now, I used a lot more words to describe it.
