Doug,
I'd like to see the bulletin about why they could not positively ground
their modules. It seems quite odd.
Positively grounding a module in general should have no effect on a typical
module. As to why it helps the SunPower module, they have an explanation,
but I'm not convinced it is true-
Peter,
The link worked fine for me, but to acces it I had to manually cut-n-paste
the entire URL. Notice that it's a long URL, that wraps onto two lines, but
only the first line is active as a hot link. You have to manually add the
second line.

Hi Kirk,
Aha! I suspected it might be as much. Thanks for the quick reply!
Looks like the SB3000 is also part of it.
So on that SMA "fix". Is that a one time boot up reset of ROM and
then it's fine for life or is it liable to recur on any given

Jay,
Europe is ungrounded. As a result, there are other requirements to
detect leakage currents to earth at startup, and during operation. You
might wonder what happens if there's a ground fault. Well, it is
detected by the leakage current detection. Interestingly, a ground
fault on an un

Anybody out there have experience with these panels? They are self-sticking

them as UL approved. Are they availible yet?

Yes. It happened to me on a recent SB 4000US installation. SMA knows of the
problem but doesn't know the cause. It's shown up in about 20 of 4000
(that's quanty of 4000) inverters sold. SMA did not tell if its unique to
the 4000US or other models as well.
But you can get the inverter to boot up pr
Good Day All,
I'm getting a "GFDI Fuse Open" message on a SB3000 and the fuse is good.
What I've checked:
1) I've checked POS to GND and NEG to GND both floating and when
connected to the integral DC Disco both for continuity and voltage .
I show expected Voc on both strings and no continuity
Hi Marv,
What do they do in Europe or japan?
How are they grounded, or are they grounded?
thanks,

The link doesn't work Doug. If it is the same article that they published
