Hi PHIL,
Although the batteries may indeed be bad, I would point out that the
the AC unit is turning on probably when the sun is out, therefore the
total load isn't all on the batteries.
And do we know they are XW inverters?
thanks,

My .02 would be a close examination of the batteries, and a realistic
realignment of their expectations of their capacity. 12 sun extender
sealed AGM batteries, 305 AH at 12 vdc, wired for 915 AH at 48 volt DC
-- sounds like those are the PVX-2580. They're only rated 305AH at the
120 hour rate.
My sanyo mini split is a 36K btu unit/ 3 evaporators. My small gridtie system
spins the meter backwards when unit is on full blast while suporting all the
other house hold loads. AHH works sweet!

I love my Mitsubishi "Mr. Slim" split system AC unit. I have a 9kbtu and a
15kbtu unit that share the same compressor. I have had both units come on
at the same time while fridge, dishwasher, (gas) clothes dryer and staber
washing machine all running, on top of "regular" loads. All this off of a
You don't list what the inverter is, but you might find that the battery
voltage is dropping like lead when when the AC starts. If the system always
started he AC look to the batteries, not good choice IMHO
Another thing is, systems tend to grow with time and out grow the systems
intended loads.

Max, Let us know if the AC unit is 120 or 240Vac, what inverter/s are used,
and how they are stacked.

Dear wrenches, going to look at a system installed by others and would like

Wrenches,
I recently rebuilt an old and funky offgrid system into Safe'n'Good. The
inverter was a Trace SW4024 (with Rev. 1.0 chips, which we upgraded to Rev.
4.01) with no DC disconnect. We added a used Trace DC conduit box to enclose
the inverter cables. Somehow I haven't been able to find the DC
