It would be a fine event to unveil the Riv Road. Unfortunately, I am
waiting on a stem coming UPS. If it arrives in time to install, adjust,and
tape the bars, I will ride the Riv Road. If not, the Atlantis will get the

Tony, thanks. My Surly LHT was "ticking" for a while. Following advice
dispensed in a recent thread here, I removed and regressed my pedals and
cranks. The ticking went away. So that will be my first remedy to try on the
Atlantis.

The banana bikes were cool; made in the Netherlands if I remember correctly.
They were fast, but they spent much time at the rest stops answering questions
about the bikes so they passed us several times. The riders were having a
blast. The bikes made me smile every time they went by.

As far as a 650b conversion to the Romulus, just new brakes, wheels and tires.
The only other thing is to watch pedal strike when cornering. I switched from
170mm crank arms to 165mm and have no issues.
In terms of a new bike, if I were in the market, I would buy the Joe!

I'll second the VO grand cru. I've used it (multiple ones) on all my bikes
since 2010. Never an issue and the two bolt adjustment is great for fine
tuning a Brooks saddle.

I have albatross bars and 650b wheels on my Romulus. I love it for light
touring and commuting as well as pleasure rides on paved surfaces. I use my
Cheviot for heavy loads and longer riding on dirt and gravel.
If I didn't have a Cheviot, I would have bought the 55 Appaloosa Grant fea
I have never ridden a Sam, so I cannot compare. The Romulus would be fine for
touring. The narrow tire clearance would make it less enjoyable on dirt than a
Joe, I think.

I like how they follow the curb of the bar so I can reach the brakes quickly
from several hand positions. However, the levers flex too much when you
squeeze them toward the ends. Only confident stopping power for me comes
