The Beeline is cool but it's a turn-by-turn display that syncs with their
phone app. Phone caveats still apply, in Texas in the summer for example,
my phone in GPS tracking in a bar case would overheat in minutes & shut
down.

Any ideas what SKS Chromoplastic fender set will fit the 650b models? I

Sorry - I meant specifically for the Platypus with 38mm or thereabouts. I
think the P50 but want to be sure when I do the Amazon swap.

SKS are made form recycled plastics I believe?
I actually felt the same way until I owned a pair, their mounting system is
well thought out (albeit in German) and they are a lot more forgiving to
knocks than aluminum.

Weight does matter and your advice is very sage & spot on. A sub 30lb bike
(unloaded) is a good goal, it will accelerate nicely away from a stop, be
able to maintain momentum on hills & with headwinds & you will enjoy those
far longer than the pain of the cost of parts to achieve it. It's a matt

In the 80's I worked as a motorcycle delivery courier (despatch rider in

out run traffic. I can't imagine doing this on a bicycle, electric or

Trying to diagnose a problem here, there's a creak when I apply a more
powerful stroke on the Platypus. It sounds like it's coming from the bottom
bracket area but of course, hard to tell when I'm riding. If I'm just
spinning along it doesn't appear.
So far I've checked the bottom bracket (tig

Even my lightened Platypus is close to the limit of the Park folding stand,
it's much about the length as anything else but add in the extra 5-8lbs of
the typical Riv build up and you're really pushing it.

I'm with your wife here! Certainly not a weight-weenie but a lighter bike
is more fun to ride, feels more lively and doesn't bum you out on the
hills. My personal feeling is that around 28 to 30lbs built up gives you a
sweet venn between a rideable weight with the parts you want and not

Good luck - spend the $ on the Rene Hearse whatever route you chose for a
build. They really are a lovely smooth tire & run beautifully comfortable
at around 45psi even on the horrendous potholed streets in my neighborhood.
