Just noticed Grant's blog post from his trip to NYC.
I think it's really great that he looked at what must have been a literal
sea of bikes and saw the small and strange things about them that nobody
else would have noticed.
Cool, that's all.

I think BQ serves its niche pretty well. And quite a niche it is. I
sometimes wonder if a better title wouldn't be "Bikes Jan Likes." It would
interesting to see more articles from outside contributors, just to provide
other perspectives.
I also subscribe to Bicycle Times and find it serves its
That locker is more weatherproof than my 90 year old garage, where my bikes
are, so I'd agree that it's no problem.
One advantage of lockers is that thieves don't know what is in them, or
even if there's anything in them at all. I would keep a lock on it even
when empty so there is no clear ind
Flitz is good. I've also had very good luck on bare metal and chrome with a
product called Nevr-Dull. It won't remove actual pits or deep scratches,
but it's fantastic for oxidation/tarnish and light dirt.

My ratio is infinity:1 these days. I used to ride motorcycles a lot, but
haven't been on one in a few years. I did a number of summer tours with a

I think the 18 to 24 ish inch square piece of cotton canvas otherwise known as
a burrito wrap would be perfect. At 3 bucks it's in your wheelhouse, price
wise, too. Cut and customize to your no-longer-wind-chilled hearts content!

Anyone know how far apart the Sam orange is between Waterford and Taiwan? I
have a Taiwan Sam and I'd suspect the W'ford color is closer than anything
else I could get.
As for Riv selling touch up, the tail-of-two-Sam-oranges is a perfect

I'm in that camp, Jim. My Sam is my "nice" bike, LHT is my commuter.
I think it's great that between Surly, Soma and a few others the world is

I just put a used SRAM Rival set-up on my Sam as an experiment to make it
road-y-er. I had never used brifters before and they are fun for the kind
of short rides that I do. I think the Apex group that Patrick suggested
looks good too if you need the range. I went with the Rival because the

I had the opposite experience.
I saw a rider up in the distance as I approached the bottom of big hill. I
was gaining, but not that quickly. As I caught up, I noticed it was a girl
riding a comfort bike in flip-flops with her purse and some flowers in the

Clearly Grant is just jumping on the Pinarello asymmetrical bandwagon! ;-)
I like "Slackeur" too, though it sounds like a porteur that's too lazy to
carry anything...
