Eric, thanks for the report. It was nicely structured and written with such gentle thoughtfulness. Thanks also for sharing your packing list in so much detail. I wonder if there have ever been recipe exchange threads on this forum: what to prepare to eat when you’re taking a ride on your Rivendell
Marty, this is beautiful and an incredible design effort. Thanks so much. It’s lovely to see them laid out like that. On Nov 30, 2022, at 11:16, Marty Gierke, Stewartstown PA wrote:Had some time to update the poster, and made a number of changes to keep things interesting. Hope you all like it.Hi
Joe, you’re incredibly generous with your knowledge and experience. Thank you!! I’ve learned so much from your contributions to this community, and I very much appreciate the basics, too. The deeper I get into working on my bikes myself, the more I understand that 1) the notion of bike “standards”
Wow… it looks like such a brilliant gathering—fun people, beautiful scenery, great vibes, and lovely bikes. Thanks for sharing. I hope to make it to the next ride in NC, my home state. Much appreciation to Leah for the video and ongoing inspiration for the Unofficial Rivendell rides!Jim On Jul 13,
Exactly, Garth. I continue to run triples, so I have viewed the trend toward purportedly simpler drivetrains with curiosity and from a long distance. I have never felt a need to simplify with a double or especially a 1x configuration. It’s basically a one-time setup for the triple, and with frictio
I agree with Christian’s general message. If the young man does end up taking the bike to college, make sure he locks it properly and redundantly. Whenever I lock a Rivendell to a rack, I lock the heck out of it. I’m talking three U locks and a thick cable lock. It’s a pain, you have to find the ri

need and want to sell, please let me know in a private message.
It would be ideal to have all the mounting hardware, too.
Thanks!

High normal refers to “regular” rear derailleurs, for which the default position with no spring tension is in the highest gear. Hence, high normal. Low normal (what Shimano called Rapid Rise) is the opposite: the default derailleur position without spring tension is in the lowest (largest) gear. Th

This sounds great. If scheduling aligns, I’m down for a ride, too. I have family in NC — Piedmont area — and it’s an easy drive to the west. On Mar 3, 2023, at 18:31, RichS wrote:This could be quite the Riv Ride. Tossing my cycling cap in the ring!Best,Rich in ATLOn Friday, March 3, 2023 at 4:19:
Hi m f, welcome! Congrats on the bike. Regarding your question: It seems odd to find an All Rounder, or any Riv for that matter, without rack mounts on the upper/mid fork blade. Would this have been a special request to not have them? It’s not totally unusual for Rivs, particularly early-ish ones, t
Thanks for the link, Leah. Pam, thank you for all you do. Your positive biking enthusiasm is infectious. Congratulations on the lovely video profile. I’m a NC native and visit frequently, and I look forward to joining for a ride in Charlotte one day. (And maybe the Asheville area ride….)JimOn Apr 5

Yeah, talk to Dustin in the Phil Wood service department. He’s super helpful. I think the general rule is that if the hub is more than about 12 or 15 years old, you’d have to send it in for service because the older designs are not user serviceable. If it’s less, you might be able to service it you
Hey folks. If you have a Boscomoose or a Chocomoose you'd like to sell, please
contact me privately. I’m mostly interested in the fillet version of the
Boscomoose, but the non-fillet version is good, too.
Thanks very much!

Doug, we had the same issue with the shiny Riv rack on a Wilbury. I asked the fine folks at Rivendell, who suggested we rig something up with stainless band clamps (or P clamps), the Nitto versions of which (https://www.rivbike.com/products/nitto-band-clamps-pair) have been sold out for a long time
