Looks like I'm going to have to store my bike in my apartment's jam-
packed bicycle room. It will be hanging from a hook, perilously close
to another bicycle that could likely scratch the paint right off of my
frame.
Any tips for protecting my bike? Pipe insulation, etc?

I just got a job that will move me from NYC to LA this Sunday. Could
be temporary, could be permanent. I'll be staying in Beverly Hills
with my mother-in-law. The gig is 15 miles away on Hollwood Blvd. and
Cahuenga. Is that rideable without killing myself?

Just found out that I'm going camping in Central Park next weekend.
There's a lottery with the Parks Department, and we are one of thirty
families that got in. The supply the tents and food; we supply
everything else, which means the sleeping bags and pads are going on
my bike. Time to get a basket
Frost River is also back in business, and they are making the panniers
again, or so they said in the email. I think they want $175 for 'em.

You're an all-steel, tweed, canvas and shellac kind of guy/girl. Has
owning a Rivendell opened you up to new hobbies?
I've always been a fly-fisherman. Last summer, I took a week-long
class in the Catskills and built my own bamboo fly rod. I'm hooked now

I've finally decided that life is too short to wear crappy socks. I'm
not just talking about biking, I'm talking about all the time.
My feet stink to high hell, but I have been wearing these bargain
basement cotton jobbers, so that's part of the rub.
I love the idea of a 100% wool sock, but I don

I've got a Baggins Big Loafer on the back of my bike, and was waiting
to purchase a baggins lil loafer. But they're not listed on the site
anymore?
Is Rivendell done with the Baggins line?

I can certainly get a Nigel Lil Loafer, but it is slightly different
looking than the baggins big loafer I already have. I just wanted a
set to match. Guess I'm out of luck now.

I really don't carry that much stuff on my bike. But assembling a
collection of matched Baggins bags fills a whole in my heart. And if I
can't find that bag, I'm turnin' to alcohol.

I shopped for a long time to get the right messenger bag/laptop bag. I
found my from acmemade.com. It's Italian canvas and super nice with

pretty happy.

If you ride your bike to feel wanderlust, my favorite sedentary
version of that is John Steinbeck's "Travels With Charley." On man.
