I can say
without question that I have more fun riding the same trails on the Krampus
vs. my Sam (Troll is not yet built-up). The trails are pretty darn
technical, and I've never *needed* suspension. Anything a hard tail can do,
IMHO, a rigid bike can do, especially a plus or fat bike.

I have the Tara and have used it on my Sam and Rockhopper with the
aforementioned mounts Tubus sells. As a sidenote, I also used the Tubus mounts
to create attachment points for water bottle cages on the fork of my Rockhopper
