I also found the derailleur hanger out of alignment more than usual. Like
you said though, not a difficult fix. I also had some brazing material
leftover in the left hand bottom bracket threads that required chasing. The
Phil Wood retaining cup wouldn’t go in on that side, but was fine after

I’ve been slowly building up my 60cm Platypus over the past few weeks as
parts trickle in and I wait for delivery of the custom wheels. I’ve been
posting some photos and comments on the build on my IG if anyone is
interested. https://www.instagram.com/ecovelo.us/

Here’s my build list:
Frame & Fork: Rivendell Platypus, 60cm
Headset: FSA Duron X1
Bottom Bracket: Phil Wood 113/68
Crank: Silver Low/Low w/guard 34x24
Cassette: Shimano XT 11-34
Pedals: MKS Bear Trap, Silver+Black
Handlebars: Nitto Bosco Bullmoose
Brake Levers: Paul Canti Levers, Polished
I go all the way back to the Bridgestone days, but my first Rivendell was a
first generation Sam Hillborne, circa 2009. I have a soft spot for models
from that era. I’m slowly warming up to the idea of longer chainstays
though, so we’ll see if my currently-in-the-build-process Platypus ends up
If your budget allows, you’ll likely be more satisfied with the Paul levers
over the long run. The IRD levers are OK, but the difference in quality is
obvious in person. Also, I’m not big on the fact that the IRD is IMO too

Like others have intimated, it sounds as if you’ve been running your saddle
much lower than recommended. I would suggest measuring your PBH one more
time with an assistant to be absolutely sure it’s correct, then adjust your
saddle to PBH minus 10-10.5 cm.
Alternatively, you could use the LeMon
