John, to suggest an answer to your question --- What I have done in the
past is to initially mount the crankset up with what ever BB I happen to
have at hand, then check the chainline and add or subtract the distance it

I wouldn't assume that a few more millimeters of tire is mecessarily going

"too much," and handling and ride quality begin to suffer. It can get

I love Garth's reply, and feel similarly. But after a few decent winters of
baseline trainer sessions, I didn't bother setting it up this time and am
trying 1-2 runs (on foot!) a week. I don't enjoy running, but it's
tolerable.

Unless you absolutely don't like the dark gold I would suggest grabbing a
new one from Rivendell because IMO there has never been a better stock
build then what they have now. I changed all kinds of parts on mine and I
don't think I would change a thing on the current one.

On a general whole I don't agree with Rivendell's "always ride the biggest
bike you can" philosophy BUT on the step thru bikes I am on board with
them. In comparison I am the same size as you but my PBH is shorter. I have
a 52 Clem and its absolutely perfect for me however if my PBH was where yo

I use rollers with a fork mount as I am no longer willing to take a fall.
I was lucky years ago to get a used Krietler roller and then a used fork
mount. The only issue is that I have to re-adjust the seat angle so I have
2 seat posts and 2 saddles which makes the whole thing a lot easier. Afte
Give that dark gold a chanceyou might find that it grows on you,
especially when you see it in the flesh. Good luck with the bike, this
latest iteration sounds pretty swell.

I haven't ridden rollers since I was a teenager...a lot of fun and a
totally different challenge than riding on the Wahoo. Mine are long gone
but not forgotten.

Hey, thanks Kim! You've been very helpful to me through this process. I
decided to buy the 59 in dark gold. Now the wait begins. 😊

You're right Johnny, life is too short to wait a year for a different
color. I pulled the trigger on the 59cm dark gold. Finally will own my
first Rivendell! It took a while but I knew I would own one eventually.

Yeah, Rollers definitely require full focus, in some ways even more than
outside as you have only 15" or so to ride on ! I had a Turbo Trainer back
in the 80's, basically one of the original "remove the front wheel" and
ride the rear wheel on some sort of resistance unit. That being small fins
Thank you so much for the feedback you two. And rmrose extra special thank
you for the picture of your Clem. That's exactly what I needed as we have
the same overall height and saddle height. I think a 59cm is the way to go
for me.

Yeah, I agree about the build. The dark gold is really not my favorite
color. I'm the guy that tried to buy a 59cm in Bronzey Green at 12:03pm
during the pre-sale and they were already gone. Clearly the bronzey green
is a popular color and I'm surprised Rivendell didn't order more in that
color
