Hello everyone,
Thank you for the welcome and for the detailed and thought out replies!
Your advice is much appreciated. It sounds like it would be a good idea to
talk with Rivendell directly, which I have been meaning to do as well. Its
good to also get some honest feedback from people with direc
I've added my fenders (SKS P50), dynamo lights and front derailleur (Campy

Riv has the best bag ever, of course, designed specifically for that rack:

There's also one from Zimbale. I have one in black.
It's not neatly as well made as the sackville, but is great for the price:

I'm so excited for everyone! I've ridden mine a few times (not set up
quite right) and I can tell the bike (frame with tires) is comfortable.
It's compliant with road imperfections. Once I get the right stem height

Awesome bike and awesome paint. Everyone, zoom in to see the speckles.
I was considering polka dots. Any lessons learned?
Wow, your coverage is so even and the dots are so small.
Took a while? Any tricks to speed it up or be even?
Thanks for sharing.

Guessing the pricing reflects that it's practically NOS and a discontinued
frame?

If I did not have a Saluki and I wanted one, I would gladly buy that one if
it were my size. They are nice bikes and have a good following. When the
time comes for me to sell mine, I expect I might do the same. If the
seller does not need to sell them, there is no harm in posting a high price

Swift Paloma - I put one on my new Breadwinner and am very happy with it.
It's not as big as the old Rivendell Boxy Bag, which is the best ever (if
you can live without a built in map pocket).

That one will sit 'til it's at market price, which is somewhere in the
$700-$1000 range. I just bought my buddy a 52 H Grilver for $1500, fully
built. I love the curved seat stays and the classic green and I hope the
seller gets $1600!!! Very curious to see what it sells for. Flashbacks to
The Grilver in Petaluma went for $500 with headset and BB- I know because I
bought it! It was in perfect condition.

I'm loathe to jump back in because I regretted (and deleted) my last round

Nice! Love it! Agreed on the geometry. The tall seat tube/short top tube
combo is hard to find and I don't get it. Most people I've seen who are
long limbed typically have short torsos. I know people(Grant Petersen's
road bike geometry...) seem to think long arms make up for that but that

You're correct that this combination *should *work. Two things I would look
at first:
1. Is the cable routed OVER that little nub at the top of the derailleur?
It's easy to miss that and have the cable pass between the nub and fixing
bolt, you'll lose leverage that way and the derailleur won't

That's an M735 front der. I think you may have better luck with an M737.
The M735 has a really long lever arm, which requires a lot of cable to pull
it. The M735 was pretty much only used with thumb shifters, which had a
comparatively large barrel, and thus pulled a bunch of cable.
