OK, the good news is that I purchased a new O Silver 2 shifter and mount
from eBay a week before they restocked then sold out. The bad news is that
the seller sent me an O shifter with an X mount. The message from the
seller was a shrug and a "that's what Rivendell sent me." So I have an

Hi Kushan,
Consider the B+M Eyro (scroll down a product or two on this link to Peter
White Cycles https://www.peterwhitecycles.com/b&m.php).
Eyro comes with a mount for the fork. I removed it and bolted Eyro directly
to my front fork's 3-pack mount. (I might have used a spacer, I don't

Brakes are claimed. No more spare CX70s from my stash.

Kushan I'm in the same boat as you. I think it's weird there's no good way
to put USB lights on rack or fork braze ons. Sure there are the stubs like
the Paul, Problem Solvers, Planet Bike, or Origin8, but then you're using
that adapter and the headlights handlebar adapter. In my case I have

Hey!
Considering a 1x set up on my Appaloosa prototype. I’m wondering if I’ll
still need to combine two chains when using a 1x with those long
chainstays. Should be a 38 chainring with 11-42 cassette. Anyone have
experience setting up something similar?
Thanks,
Tim

I bet you will need two chains. My Jones with a bit shorter chainstays,
smaller ring, bigger cog, needed extra links.

My Clem H is running a 36 up front with a 12/34 out back. Needed extra
links to work. I too thought I could do it but one chain was not quite
enough. My stays may be longer than yours though. I also had to swap in a
longer tray on my fork mount roof rack. Good thing I had a spare from an

Is there any well made, well functioning adapter to make an SPD pedal into
a platform that will take a standard Christophe clip? Rather than swapping
out my SPDs for quills, this might be the best solution for merely
occasional street shoe riding.
Thanks.

These rink systems work and are pretty sick, they're just
expensive. https://www.renehersecycles.com/product-category/components/pedals/

Eric -- They look very similar to the Blue Lug x Nitto Hi-Rise bars,
apparently based on old Wald bars:

I can't see what the problem is. I have modern (10s, 11s) SLX, XT, and XTR
front derailleurs operated by either barend or DT shifters, on both of
which the front is a friction shifter, and the shifting is fine.

That's too bad about your seller. Seems odd. If you can't find the proper
mount, a Pauls thumbie will function. Rivendell brought out the levers
before the mounts. I bought a pair & got them to work with Pauls to hold
me over until the Rivendell mounts came out. It worked, but not as well a

Thanks; I've thought of these. Questions: Does the system materially
increase Q? Is the MKS spd pedal anywhere near as good as mid and upper
level Shimano SPDs -- PD540, XT, XTR?
Actually, ~$275 for MKS SPDs and Urbans and shipping isn't too bad, but
only if the MKS spds are good pedals.

I've contacted them a few times. They're wanting a local sale and I'm in
Nashville. I have in-laws that live out there and I'm waiting to hear back.
I think it's part of a conspiracy to keep all Rivendells on the west coast.
