I really enjoy seeing all the variations of folks' trips and iterations of
outfitting on this route. I'm fortunate to be a twenty minute bike ride
from the Pittsburgh end and frequent the GAP portions and points along that
way that are fun detours and sightseeing.

Long shot, but I’m in the market for a single TT Sam in this size range, the

I've always wanted to attach a fancy Sackville bag to my bike, but I live

times), I loop a thin braided steel cable (like 2-3mm diameter, ~10" long)
through the bag and the seatpost binder bolt. These were typically used to
theft-deter quick release seat posts. On at least a couple of occasions,

When I lived in Chicago and used a Carradice I would pair it with a
Pletscher rear rack with a mousetrap. When I parked the bike I would open

I have a pair of VP Vice pedals on my Rivendell that click once a rotation.
I've tried to ignore it, but like most problems that one ignores, it
doesn't go away. I looked for a rebuild kit, and it was out of stock at VP
Components. Had it been in stock, it would have had a price tag of $24.
In the big city, I usually ride with one Ortlieb bag on the left, then take
it with me wherever I go. They're light enough to carry only a few items
in, and it expands in case I go to a store and buy some snacks. The quick
release is always reliable for me.

many variations, so can supply you (privately, so as not to bore others)

The trails are seldom what you would call "busy or crowded" but this year

year, but not all. The campsites on the C&O are open year-round. Camping on
the GAP is trickier during winter, but I would say likely open until late
