Great initial post with encouraging and positive responses. Some things
are still right with this world.
I had total knee replacement surgery this year, June 8. Bicycling put me
in the best position possible prior to surgery and has been the best
exercise possible post surgery. It's amazing
Thanks Jason. The Bleriot reminds me of my old Roads and Custom except

nice do it all bike.

Chase, how are you measuring your PBH? Do you have help? I have found
variations depending on measuring methods. I use the Riv method, my PBH is
80.6. The 50cm Atlantis fit great with 48mm tires. MT 51cm Sam which I
bet is similar to the Appaloosa might be a tad tight at 79 PBH. I’d

Not an expert but it looks good to me. Seems you are right at what I would
consider minimal clearance.

It would be better to have a bit more clearance at the side, even for a
rear tire, but the critical gap is at the top of the tire, and as long as
this is close to 5 mm and as long as the tire has no knobs, I think it will
be fine. I have slightly less than 5 mm clearance under the top of my rear

Tim - have you ever gone over to the West side of the river and ridden on
the Root River Trail towards Lanesboro (in the past, that is, not since
your surgery - there is a big hill to climb along the way)? Nice scenic
trail with bluffs in view near some of the small towns.

Your fender will eventually rub off the paint on the inside of both
chainstays. Rust will likely develop afterward.

You are approaching 3000 miles this year WITH A KNEE REPLACEMENT?! I doff my
cap to you, sir - excellent work; you warm this nurse’s heart. If you’re doing
20-50 mile days post knee-replacement, I guess I’m out of excuses. 😉
Sounds like the Atlantis is perfect for you. Get all the miles in on i

@Jason Wow, great build! Saw that yesterday at Radavist. Is that a 650b
wheelset? Also, what's the rear light, and how do you like it?
Thx- Scott

I think the photo is pretty accurate, though I'm not sure what it looks
like on your end. I think Riv called the Coleman Camp Stove green, and I
would say that is s pretty good name, as it is very close to that Coleman
color.

I've seen the website numbers, but from personal experience: how much room

How much room for a ditto Happysack? (Again, 1" air gap.)
This is in case I go *without* a rack. If I decide to keep a rack, I will

Remember Foss tubes? I like that Riv has always tried to be out of the box.

What are some of the other head scratcher ideas and products from yesteryear?
None of them have ever been dumb.
This is in praise of creative thinking and taking chances.

I personally find springs superfluous, maybe because I'm light and they
don't seem to do much except add weight and squeak. For the BEST upright
saddle I'm always on the lookout for increasingly rare B-68s. The Holy
Grail of upright saddles (to me) would be finding a B-68 Imperial.

Thank you, my good man. I do enjoy it. It handles impeccably, and something

Foss tubes were* so *strange. I don't remember how it worked now but
there'was a specific way they needed to be inserted in the tire, and they
had a dedicated (and pricey) patch.
My favorite wacky idea was a wheel size between 584(650b) and 622(700c), I
believe it was 603. Grant cut a tire, pu

I still have a Foss tube in one of my wheels. Damn thing won't wear out.
Jeff Jones, another iconoclast like Grant, is doing long wheelbases too.

Schwalbe Big One ELs and Furious Freds set up tubeless with no problems: easy
