Lots of nifty Suntour Superbe Pro bits, I remember when that stuff was
available in the Readers in the very early days. That's a nice bike of
indeterminate size.

Some would pay that, but I would not. I’ve got a nearly identical bike, though

So. To come back to this. I ordered a bottle of Nix Frix Shun NFX, and
have been using it on my two bikes, my wife's bike and our tandem this
summer. The results have been excellent. I don't know how much is this
particular lube or is application method, including wiping the outside
chain

That's an interesting sale. The seller obviously knows the bike isn't a
run-of-the-mill old bike with the asking price. But yet, the seller
expended no effort to clean up the bike for sale, with di
All of his other listings are non-bike. He seems to have a fair idea what an
early Riv is, but this looks like an estate sale.

I used to use a Thule then I went roof rack. Can’t do that now due to
lifting. I have a sedan and my wife has a Crosstrek, would like a rack for
2 bikes I can use on both. What are you using and/or recommending?
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for opinions about the ride of a 58 Hunq vs a 58 Appaloosa. I
know that is pretty specific, but here's why. I just finished building up a
55 Appaloosa for my wife and we were on a ride this weekend where we traded
bikes. Both of us remarked that the Appa felt much more

Hi everyone,
I just finished building up an Appaloosa for my wife (with Choco bars) and
now after riding my bike with Albastache bars she is wanting to switch to
those. Riv is out of stock so I'm seeing if anyone here has an extra
Albastache bar they'd like to re-home.
Thanks!

The Hunqapillar is a pretty stout trail touring bike that basically sat between
the Atlantis and the Bombadil when it was first coming out. It’s been my
experience that it rides nicely when loaded down or when riding chunkier stuff.
The Appaloosa is different, being a bike that sits next to the
Here is good page that describes the Hunq. It’s one of my favorite head badges.
Lol
I thought the Hunq road pretty nicely as a trail bike when I got a chance to
ride it.

I would love to ride a 54 Hunqapillar and a 55 Appaloosa, set up
identically, back to back. I've compared the geometry charts and the only
real difference is the chainstay length of the Appaloosa. I have an image
in my mind of how the Appaloosa would ride and it's a smoother, more stable

Great photos Eric. I had my Qb set up the same way: Honjos and 3 speed. Sold
it in a weak moment.
Wish I hadn’t. Sure miss it.

Realizing I very much enjoy the simplicity of the Rivendellian philosophy and
bike design. Hoping to find a nice clean used complete in a medium/55-56 frame.
I have a medium Jones plus I am looking to offload and could be used as trade
bait. Let me know what you have.

Check out the current Blahg that details the evolution of the upcoming
Platypus' headbadge. We always knew a good deal of thought went into the
Rivendell badges & this post shows how much they sweat the details.

As I live in Davis, I should have brought my Quickbeam out and rode about a
1/4 mile behind you HA!
It is a nice ride out to Winters but can get boring sometimes so I've
experimented with some creative routes through farm field access roads. So
far no problems but luck can only take you so far.
Actually, we moved to Carmichael a few years ago, so I don’t get to ride to
Winters very often. I wore a rut into the road when I lived there, but being
away makes it interesting again.

Not to talk off the topic of chain lubing but, Patrick your rear derailleur
cable is wrapped under the kickstand plate. Not sure if it makes any
difference to you but it could lead to the cable breaking prematurely or
the rear Der being perpetually out of adjustment. Is there room for the
cable
