I agree with you that Nitto designed approx 1mm clearance for the hex nut
to shelf. I also agree it's a marginal design, and could be improved, but
it does work.
I should have cautioned Leah to look for 'excessive play' in the nut to
shelf which allows the nut to almost rotate fully.

I did the 3 tubes with clear coat for $50 less 10% coupon. There were several
other options but I didn't need all the extra gloves/sandpaper/etc. Some of the
other oranges looked a little closer on the ap but the c5 was recommended. When

Your crank will be the deciding factor in BB spindle length. There's nothing
weird about Bike Fridays in that reguard so you can just follow whatever the
crank manufacturer specs.

Hi David,
In addition to switching to Boost cranks, you could add 5mm of spacers to
the non drive side of the hub and re-dish the rear wheel. I think this
would effectively move the tire over about 2.5mm in relation the to crank.
The OLD would go from 135mm to 140 and make reinstalling the wheel
FS: Clem H, size 59 (700c), in grilver.

A comment on chainline based on my experience with my Clem. (My susie was one
with the incorrect fork, so i won't have the opportunity to play with it for a

I used friction shifters with mustache bars wrapped the way you describe
without problems. But drop bars would be longer and sharper angled. Maybe
ride it a few days before wrapping the bars to see how it feels?

My suggestion disassemble the handle bar and stem. Clean all the parts

Bolts are typically steel. If they go into steel they are typically fine
thread, but not always. Sometimes using a taller nut and coarse thread is

I think my Atlantis was built in 2014 or so. I have run it with 50mm Schwalbe

If your Atlantis is the latest version with increased clearance, you should
be able to fit Rat Trap Pass and the Simworks or Rene Herse 74mm fenders.
I have this combo on my Clem H, which has the same fork crown and probably
similar seat- and chain-stay clearance as well.

What cassette do you have, and what number of teeth on the big ring? If the
gearing is low enough overall you indeed may be ok with not using the lowest
gear in the small ring. Although I think Grant's theory is correct: in practice
the big/small won't rub enough to bother you anyway.

the “step” that it looks like the design is for the JIS 12mm.

Hi, I'm 2-3 inches taller than you and also have a 45cm Clem H (2017 model)
with 55cm Boscos. I bought the bike complete a few months ago, so I'm
assuming I have the 110mm stem (Although I haven't measured it myself).

Following up on Jason's post, I haveRH Antelope Hill with Simworks 74 mm
fenders on my MIT Atlantis. Clearance sufficient but close. The fenders
had to be squished a tad at the fork to fit well. Happy to answer any

equally. There's no way that the stem bolt hole could be drilled from the
back side, only from the front. If the jaws on the stem were spread a tad
bit too much, for example, the target zone for the 2nd hole on the back

at an angle: If the stem was aligned with the toptube and front tire, the bar
was at an angle to the left as if I was slightly turning left. Mistakes make it
