Yah I took another look at the color of my AHH and the AHH on the
flickr link I posted and i started comparing more closely.
You are right, the colors are not exactly the same. The color of my
AHH is more of a silver-green..whereas the AHH on the flickr link, the
green is a shade darker

One of the main streets in my neighborhood has just been repaved.
That's repaved, not the far more common re-surfacing/chip sealing.
It is remarkably refreshing and evokes a certain nostalgia to ride on an
excellent road surface.

I think you are right. Fat cushy tires may be a requirement to ride
deteriorated roads that cannot be repaved at the moment. Maybe there will
be more bicycles out there due to the economics. I see more bicycle riders
in my area than usual.

Well, technically, it's paid for..it's not here yet. I bought Rocky's AHH.
My first/only Riv was a Romulus I bought new in '03 (wow, I can't believe
how long ago that was now). It was a great bike, but I never liked the light
blue color much. It was a "this is the only Riv I can afford" purchase
I clicked on the link and got the following message:

I was exploring the Minneapolis urban jungle last night on my Surly Troll
with 26x2.25 Marathon Extremes, and as I was rolling happily over some of
the rough roads Tim referred to, I couldn't help but think how useless "road

One addition to my little saga: A few months ago I picked up an Electra
Amsterdam sort-of-a-dutch bike. It's a slightly less radical (geometry-wise)
version of their Townie Crank Forward bikes, a type of bike that was

Sounds like a fun trip. I don't know the routes in Marin as well as
some on this list, but look for the Cross Marin Trail to get you part
of the way to Samuel Taylor. The Bolinas Ridge Trail is a classic
Marin MTB route that can be done on an all-purpose bike. Also,

This is true in VT too. Most roads are in disrepair and the rest are under
reconstruction! Routine maintenance is a bygone memory. If I have to dodge
