Chris: Normally bears & cougars are bit shy of humans (as long as there is enough other stuff to eat) but racoons are the real nemesis. Those little critters can slice open a pannier (if they get frustrated with the clips'n'straps) to get at food. Watch out for masked marauders around campsi
