I've been using them for ~ 3 years now and have yet to be run over.
These were born as a kickstarter project, pricey but interesting:

The expense of a dynamo system is considerable, and battery lights have gotten
very good even at low price-points. Obviously, battery lights require more
daily planning/conservation. It comes down to weighing the expense of the
dynamo vs the inconvenience of keeping your batteries charged during
I used a very wide variety of battery lights and three types of generators,

FYI, you can get similar but not as pretty as the nitto clamps at home depot or

Anne,
I used one of those dreamy shiny stainless steel clamps with the rubber
inserts, maybe they're designed to mount racks to forks or seat stays, but
I used one around an LED flashlight, and secured it to my WALD basket with

IQ Cyo: half the price of the Edeluxe with (as far as I can tell) 100%
of the light, tho' without the nice aluminum case and better than at
least the older Flys, which are still decent. (I have all three.)
FWIW, unless you are interested in top o' the line, a Shimano dynohub

Agree: I myself am a convert to dyno lights; IMO, a Shimano dynohub
and an IQ Cyo are a value/performance combination that can't be beat.

I have the Edeluxe and Cyo lights, and in my experience the Cyo does indeed put
out the same light, equally well focused and aimed. Yes, it's in a plastic
housing, but I think it goes well with some bikes (like my Pashley Guvnor:
