B.17s stopped working for me a couple of years ago and I switched to
Berthoud Aspins. I can't help with the "fore-aft hump" because my
saddles never developed ridges like that, but for sure the Berthoud
leather is much thicker and sturdier, and does not sag the way B.17s do.

I have had a Berthoud touring saddle on my Homer for nearly 3 years. I think
it's extremely comfortable with drop bars at approximately saddle height. As
others have said, it does not stretch out like the non-Select Brooks saddles -
in my experience, the Berthoud and the Brooks Select saddles

I considered, but did not try the less expensive Berthoud Menthe, and a model
from Rivet before ordering and being very pleased with a Br
cons for me: narrower than a B17 standard, hard as a rock and stubborn break in
pros: easily replacable top cover, seems well made
