I live Velomine and have used them several times in the past, but boy,
their website sucks. I'd much rather have some modern filters for diameter,
hub size, disc, etc, rather than their random grouping of wheels by
category.

I think the difference is that VeloMine mirrors the QBP inventory so you
can actually see what's available, and they don't seem to mark the wheels
up much. A buddy got an amazing deal on a set of Velocitys a while ago -
cheaper than the retail cost of the parts. I don't know how they are able
to
FYI, a few years ago I ordered a frame from VeloMine and had to call for
some reason, but during that call I had asked about their wheelsets and was
told they are just the stock wheels that QBP sells. They just purchase mass
amounts of them and sell them. So any bike shop with a QBP account can
I've had great experiences with Velomine. Over the years I've ordered three
wheelsets from them. While not up to the level of Rich-built Riv wheels,
they have great deals and the wheels have always been solidly built and
durable.

Thanks for the heads up. Crust 650b: $525 for a wheelset or $625 (dynamo),
Taiwan built.
Riv's Taiwan version is sold out, but built by Rich version would be $590
with Deore hubs and Cliffhangers, 4-6 week wait.
I've ran one of those Deore t610 rear hubs for many years on my old cargo
bike and
Oh. That's impressive. I didn't actually look at the numbers or profiles
- I just read the email that said they got wider. Hard to balk at that
deal.

As much as I think the need to maximize rim width for wider tires is mostly
overblown, for what it's worth:
Crust rims are 30mm external width, 26mm internal
Velocity Cliffhangers are 30mm external, 25mm internal

Crust just sent out a restock email on those wheels yesterday. Evidently,
the rims are wider than the previous version, so they might actually work
on a Susie, depending on what tires you intend to run. If you want to take
full advantage of the clearance, you probably still want Cliffhangers,
I have the Crust wheelset on my custom rando bike and have liked them.
