The one on my Singer just stays in place boy itself. It’s sandwiched between
the brake bridge and the fender, with a leather washer between the
reinforcement and the bridge. It is contoured to match the fender, so perhaps
that helps.
This photo shows a Singer with the reinforcer, but with some

But how do you keep it from shifting or turning sideways a bit from
vibration, etc. without the bolts? Contact cement? Or is the
diamond-shaped plate beveled in such a way that it conforms to the
curvature of the fende
The advantage is purely aesthetic-trying to replicate the original Singer part.
I'll look into getting a piece of an old fender somewhere.
