If you have enough space, you can fit the mount as a headset spacer without the
shim. In practice either option works just fine.

Looks good to me. The one caveat about stem mount is that it's kind of a wonky
handling effect while reaching for the shifter, but a steady left hand on the
bar is sufficient to counteract it.
