Nearly everyone here give very good personal advice in my opinion but they can
only deal with the potentially biased information they possess. (We all like
what we have (keep) and which works for us and want to share that with others
which affirms out decisions regarding bikes).

I'm not one to talk someone out of a new Riv, but my guess is a Bombadil is a
great daily rider. Get a Sam or Appa if you really want a "roadier" bike, but I
hope that your quite rare and beautiful Bombadil continues to see daylight.

I'll agree with Jay here - I think the Sam with 42s would be a great fit for
your needs.
That said - the Jones is so very versatile. I've got a Jones Plus with 2 wheel
sets. One with huge knobbies on velocity Dually rims and another with large
(2.3) slicks on carbon jobbies. And my oh my I rac
I am about 270 at the moment and love my Sam. I have a Joe set up as a
hauler/router, but the Sam is my road bike. Lighter riders describe the Sam as
heavy duty, but to me it feels perfect on the road. My advice is to run it
with wide, supple tires.
