First thing would be to try the wider tires and then check if there is
actually tire/chain interference. If there ends up being insufficient

I had been running the Schwalbe Big Bens on my Clem and had been doing a bit of
fire road riding so recently swapped them out for the Schwalbe Smart Sam's, and
love em! Great on the trails and work just fine on pavement when commutting too.

I was going through this recently, but looking for 26" x 2.3. I was
disappointed to learn that Thunderburts by Schwalbe are no longer available
in the 26" size, but they are still made in the 27.5 version. I have two
bikes that can handle the 27.5 Thunderburts, but haven't tried them yet. I
